“Wait a minute! By what right do you want to arrest her?! You have no proofs!”
The policeman sent Mrs Bowlin a warning glance, letting her know that her words can do more harm than help.
“It’s all right.” Said calmly Eli. “It’s not like they will hold me there for all eternity.”
She took a few steps ahead, bent down and picked up, lying on the floor book.
“I will take it.”
“What’s that?” said the policeman reached his hand towards the book.
“That I know.” Said the man, taking it in the hand.
He looked carefully at the cover.
‘Sophocles.” He read title aloud and then gave a brown haired man a quizzical look.
“I don’t remember any Sophocles on the list, Sir.”
The policeman flipped through the book, trying to catch suspicious words, but nothing get his attention
“It’s all right.” He said, returning the book. “But only this. We will not hold you for all eternity Miss Gutmann. You don’t have to take whole house with you.”
