Stories 4/5 – Let’s write story together

I asked you about writing continuation to my entry story. The idea is to write a story together. We choose the best continuation and later we will decide what to do with it.

I received 45 of your stories. I randomly divided them (RAND() in Excel) into 5 groups of 9 stories each. Now we choose the best story from each group. Later we will choose the best one from 5 best stories. At this stage all stories are anonymous – we choose the best one, not the best friend ;P We vote using poll on the bottom of each story groups page. You can vote till December 22 12:00 am (UTC/GMT).

Story 45

Mary’s family have been cursed by a cat spirit for many generations. The cat, Thomas, who Mary lives with is underling of the cat spirit who cursed Mary’s family and Thomas reports to the cat spirit everything Mary does, and Mary is unaware of it. The reason why Mary’s mother, Jessy, bears a grudge against her mother (Mary’s grandmother) was because she didn’t tell Jessy that if she didn’t get married and give birth to a child before she turns 33, she will have a horrible love life – reason of Mary’s father’s death when Mary was only 7, making Jessy unable to live the life she wanted with her family thus, living a miserable life. Jessy hope to protect Mary by telling her about the curse on her 29th birthday but ended up in a fatal accident. However, on her mother’s (Jessy’s) funeral, her grandmother told Mary about the curse. What would the now, 30 year old, Mary do to end the curse that has been passed down for generations?

Story 38

Mary is one day called to visit her grandmother. A car is sent to fetch her, and she soon arrives to a lavish house, a place that only the rich can afford. She is escorted inside and is made to sit down in a grand drawing room. He grandmother, a fierce looking lady soon joins her. After a while, Mary says that she did not know that her grandmother was this rich. Her grandmother explains that she and her husband are the founders of a large group of companies, and that her mother had grown up in a rich lifestyle. Unable to deal with the pressure and hardship her mother had given her she ran away from home when she was old enough. Mary’s mother asks for forgiveness, and says that she too is dying, and she wants Mary to take over as she has no more successors.

Story 31

Instead of leaving Mary without regrets she did the exact opposite. Buried with depts, Mary was left with nothing. Even Thomas left her all alone due to the epidemic that spreaded all over the town. She tried taking her life but the attempt failed miserably and left her crooked. Now Mary lives in a crooked house with a crooked leg and with a crooked life.

Story 41

Since Mary lives alone now,  her grandmother asked her to live with her during her last days. This was actually a plan to mess up her life as well, to make her meet few suitors of her choice and get her married . She keeps bringing suitors to visit her, but Mary didn’t have interests in getting married because of her painful failed previous relationship, which makes her feel paranoid. She keeps turning down her suitors due to the lack of interest. But, one fine day, she was introduced to a fine gentleman named Thomas, in his early thirties, a successful lawyer and a widower. He has a 7 year old son and had a tragic marriage in the past. He wants to move on for his son. When Mary met that guy, she feels that he looks familiar and later recognises him to be her high school crush. She immediately gets embarrassed when she remembers she named her cat after her first crush. Weirdly, Thomas recognises her as well. Why did he recognise her? What happened in their past and would their reunion turn into a blooming romance?

Story 30

Mary always wonders why her grandmother treated her mother so badly, so she started reading her mother’s diary. It said particularly nothing, but she was happy remembering her memories even she had hard life with her family. When Mary opened the last page, she found phone number with her strange message which her mother left to Mary.
“Please call Thomas. He’s your twin brother.” “What!? My twin brother? It can’t be possible!” She was so shocked. No one told her about her twin brother. Furthermore her mother knew Mary was going to read this diary. She remembered her mother brought the cat Thomas three months before her death. “Thomas…same name as our cat… I wonder why she named our cat Thomas. Maybe they kept meeting each other.” Mary sighed when she realized it.She thought brother Thomas might know something about her mother and her grandmother. So she called at the number …

Story 6

It is a perfect town. No fighting, no stealing, no arguing, and nobody is dirt poor. Every morning, Mary would wake up to do the same thing as any other day, selling flowers at her old shop in town. It is an old shop that Mary’s mother use to own before passing it down to Mary. Even though Mary is single she doesn’t feel lonely because her cat, Thomas is with her. Whenever customers bought flowers from Mary’s shop to confess, it would always end up as a success. Why that is, Mary does not know however she did take good care of them and even as far as talking to them! She would always said, “hope you make the person who bought you feel happy as they received this flower!” Of course what she said to every flower is not always the same. Mary still remember what her mother had said to her before she passed away the next day after saying it. “Mary, never ever get out of this town okay?” Mary asked „why is that mother?”Mary’s mother had hesitant before answering „because you have to protect this flower shop.” The answer sounds like a lie to Mary, but she doesn’t ask any further because she love the flower shop and this town. This perfect town.

Story 8

She treated Mary with the same attitude as her own mother, she didn’t allow her to have friends or even go to school. Mary was home schooled, it didn’t helped Mary to grow out of her comfort zone or even grow as a person from the teaching that her mother gave. Mary’s mother was very strict, just like her own mother (Mary’s grandmother) but sadly Mary didn’t hold any grudge against her because she knew that she was lonely and depressed. After her husband died, Mary was the only person she had left. She wanted to keep Mary away from harm but she didn’t realise that she treated her just like her own mother did to herself. It was too late for her to change the mistake that she made with Mary. Being isolated from the world is a worst feeling to ever feel.

Story 2

Mary ended up holding an even bigger grudge… not against Mary’s mother but against the world. Mary was left all alone with only Thomas by her side. Sure she had a big house for herself, a huge amount of inheritance enough to support her even without working… but the fact that she’s alone still remains. A year after her mother’s death, Mary was starting to adjust to her life now when suddenly Thomas started to sleep more and eat less. She brought her to the vet and the doctor told her that Thomas is dying.
